An “invisible umbrella” that shoots up a jet of air and protects its owners from a downpour of rain is apparently being manufactured by a startup as its developers are now trying to raise funds via Kickstarter.
The project creators said in a statement that to design a better looking product, they are to cooperate with a few PhD graduates from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to improve the product’s design.
They added that after a year’s hard work and tremendous effort, they managed to finally improve the appearance of the umbrella which may influence its effect. At the very least, their product is said to be really of use outdoors on rainy days.
This is actually not the first of such design. Earlier versions of this invisible umbrella had already come out as early as 2012 but have yet to appear in stores for consumers to make use of.
This air umbrella offers shelter from the rain with the air and it has three different kinds or versions for each user.
Air umbrella-a is available for female use. It is about 30 centimeters in length and 500 grams in weight. The battery life is about 15 minutes and it is not scalable.
Air umbrealla-b, on the other hand, is the basic style. This version is 50 centimeters in length and 800 grams in weight. The battery life could last as long as 30 minutes.
Third is the Air umbrella-c, which is scalable. It is about 50 centimeters after shortened and 80 centimeters after it is extended. The umbrella weights 850 grams and has a battery life of about 30 minutes.
The creators mention that the product is still currenlt in the stage of research and development. At present, the umbrella is only available for 1 or 2 persons though it could be available for more if the rain is not so heavy.
They said they can adjust the product according to different situations.
As the product needs more power, it can be used for a duration of 30 minutes if charged. Under a normal circumstance, the battery can be used for upto three years. The current product is guaranteed for 18 months with a warrantly period of also 18 months.
The products creators assure its costumers that they are making great efforts to improve the appearance, handness and battery life of their product.
They also plan to improve the product between October 2014 and July 2015 and then, ship the products to stores before December 2015. Reference: gmanetwork
