Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters gave honor to their retired team captain Jimmy Alapag. The team had retired jersey No.3, Alapag’s jersey, on the half time of PBA All Stars held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Alapag’s family and friends had been present and the whole stadium had been emotional as they honor ‘Mighty Mouse’. Even his siblings based on US had flown home to witness the ceremony.
Alapag had been teary eyed as he shared that being in PBA and as part of its history had been his ultimate dream when he was a child. He had felt blessed to be in PBA for 12 years, living his dream to be in the league.
He also expressed his gratitude to the TNT management for putting faith in him when had been picked by the management in the 2003 PBA Rookie Draft. He also expressed how thankful he was for his teammates and for his good friend Asi Taulava. They had made his career more of a blessing.
He told his wife, LJ Moreno, how excited he is to be in his new chapter of his life with his family, being better as a father and husband.
Alapag also thanked the PBA fans for the pleasure and honor of playing for them for 12 years. He expressed how he can’t thank the fans enough for the support and prayers for his team TNT and for the Gilas.
He then said that he is proud of the Philippine basketball and he expects that the new generation will only make it bigger and better.
His coach Chot Reyes also thanked Alapag for making his coaching work easier. Together they won four PBA titles and a silver medal in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship. Alapag’s 12 years yielded six PBA championships an MVP award in 2011, and was awarded as the PBA Rookie of the Year in 2003. He will now serve as the manager of TNT.
